  • Slow is my middle name

So when I said I was back, let's see, two months ago, apparently I didn't mean right away.  And, although there is no good defense for why I was away so long, here is what I've been up to since my last update:

    May

    • Stage Manager for PLU's production of 'Noises Off', one of the best shows I have worked on.
    • Capstone presentation about the show I directed in January, 'Snowed In', which determined if I could graduate.
    • Finals- egh.
    • Graduation!  However, at this point still unsure as to whether the school got my transfer straightened out in time.
    • Sasquatch Festival with my buddy Kelsie- we saw Ben Costa, Rodrigo y Gabriella, The Hives and, best of all, Flight of the Conchords!  It was....... awesome.  So worth the sunburn.

    June

    • Tried finding summer job to help supplement CTI fundraisng.  No luck.  Yay bad economy!
    • Reuniteed with an old friend who got a job in Seattle for the summer.
    • Be with my family before I leave for a year.
    • Helped throw a birthday party for a 6 year old.
    • Joined a gym.
    • Live with my brother John for a month while he visits (only see him 1-2 times a year).
    • Went to the Seattle Art Museum with John and saw an amazing Impressionist exhibit.
    • Learned to make sock monsters- they are awesome.

    July

    • Spent the 4th with a family I don't really know and had fun.
    • The sun finally came out in WA.
    • Celebrated Kelsie's getting a job within 5 weeks of graduating.  If only I will be so lucky post-CTI...
    • Hired for 2 weeks of house-sitting.  Yay, a little work!
    • Still making sock monsters, and getting dang good at it now.
    • Still fundraising- about $3,000 left to raise.

So there you go- a very dry list about the last few months of my life.  Hopefully this won't happen much more since I plan on updating this semi-weekly, but as we all know, I am terrible at keeping up with the blog.

We'll see what happens come next week....

  • I'm back....

So, it's been about an entire semester since I have written.  This is for a very good reason:

I lost my password.  I couldn't remember it for the life of me.
And my security question was not actually mine... so it's taken me many attempts to get back here.

It is exciting to be back.  I have updates, but I think I'll collect my thoughts and post them in the next few days.  Otherwise, you'll be reading a 20 page paper on why there are not enough hours in the day for me...

  • and the votes are in-

    The News:
After graduation, I am going back to Willmar, MN to be part of another full-time team, 2008-2009.

    The Explanation:
Ok, ok. So I know this is a bit of a surprise to a lot of you, but I didn't want to go spreading the word that I had applied until I knew it was official. Ever since my first full-time year, I knew that I wanted to do another year, I just didn't know when. As I've been going through school, CTI has always been in the back of my mind, but more as a part of my life that passed, not as an option for the future.

However, starting last year, CTI began popping up in my prayers and conversations when I was considering options for post-graduation. By the time I got to PLU, I was praying very hard about it and even loosing sleep over the idea. Finally, I gave in to the direction God was pulling me and called the lovely Melody, who I'm sure was very surprised to hear from me. That night, I have one of the best rests in my life.

Since that call, I've continued praying and know this is where I am supposed to be next year. And now that I have finally finished the audition/application process, I can officially start fund raising and plan to do just that, as soon as I can. For any of you who wish to donate, drop me a note or give me a call with your address and I'll send out a letter as soon as I get them put together. You should all get one. Then make copies and hand them out to all your friends, and rich people. =D just kidding, (but seriously)...

The first step in supporting me is joining the group I just created, Support Sara (Hoagie!). I'll send out updates through that and maybe even start giving away cool things to those who support! Tell all your friends!

    Love to you all,
    Sara Hoagie

  • Big news

Well, as I said last month, we are still sans computer at home, and I write this blog from the sanctuary of my church, where I get wireless service.  Oh, the perks of being a PK....

I start school in a week and a half.  I stop working in a week.  Which will be tremendously good for my sleeping habits, but not so good for my wallet.  Once I move into school, I'll be hunting down another job to continue paying the bills.

Now, for some big news:  I am in the process of applying for another full-time year with CTI, after I graduate (08-09).  I've been slowly applying all summer, since the job has kept me completely exhausted and busy, but I'm now pretty much down to the audition tape and making sure the people I asked to be references actually fill out the form (we'll see how that goes...).  I'm  applying for bass and vocals and I figure I can fit in where they need me.
I am 90% sure (which is about as sure as I get) this is where God wants me next year and have been for the past year or two.  I just went through stages of denial, acceptance, and brushing it off until God pretty much smacked me on the head and told me to call Melody.  So here I am, finally telling you all, and asking for your many kind prayers.
So, I do have some songs that I'm working on for the audition tape, but last time I auditioned, I did it on vocals.  I'm not exactly sure or as knowledgeable with bass.  If you instrumentalists have any good suggestions, I am open.  Nothing too crazy since I'm trying to get it out before I move to school (fingers crossed), but keep it interesting!  I really value your guys input!

Well, I've gotta run- I need to say good night to Solveig, finish some laundry, and then get to bed myself since I have an 8 hour day ahead of me starting at 5:30am!  eeeeggghhhhhh, I know.
